Turns out money does buy love--- for the ladies, that is
By Dian Vujovich
When I was a young woman, my mother often reminded me that it was just as easy to fall in love with a rich guy as it was a poor one. I remember thinking how cold and heartless her words were until I finally got it and realized the truth in her advice.
Throughout the decades I’ve also learned that my mom wasn’t the only one dispensing that little bit of wisdom to their daughters. Plus, that it doesn’t take long before a young woman realizes that money even trumps good looks. Today you don’t have to go any further than a stroll down Worth Avenue or through the lobby of The Breakers Hotel on a ball night to see that with your own two eyes.
For those who don’t want to believe their mom’s, in the Money Management International’s 2010 Love and Money survey it was revealed that yes indeedy women prefer their guys be financially secure rather than mere hunks.
According to survey findings, “Women rated financial traits like low debt level, good credit history, adequate savings, and job security as more important than attractiveness in a relationship.”
Guys, on the other hand, weren’t as deep. “Significantly more men placed a higher value on attractiveness in a partner compared to women.”
Nothing surprising about that.
I do wonder, however, if the results would be the same for those involved with cougars?
